This subject-mounted, battery-powered, wireless headstage transmits neural signal data to your acquisition system or computer, setting your research free of restrictive tethers. Designed for exceptional performance, FreeLynx does not require the use of a faraday cage. Just secure it to your animal interface, connect the Cheetah acquisition computer, and start recording data. Very flat frequency response accurately records both low-frequency Alpha / Theta oscillations and high-frequency Single Unit Action Potentials.
FreeLynx is an incredibly configurable system, allowing inputs from small animal tetrode drives such as our Halo Microdrives, implantable headstages, or advanced silicon probes at one or multiple implant sites. Neural signals may be digitized by FreeLynx or by separate multiplexing headstages. Our battery sizes further optimize the system for desired weight and recording duration.

Using a separate, customizable front end input module, FreeLynx quickly adapts to your animal interface. With our custom LVDS tethers, FreeLynx is compatible with most major silicon probes, making FreeLynx ideal for non-standard animal models and complex behavior studies. Our customizable front end also quickly adapts FreeLynx to varying channel counts, multiple implant sites, and flexible mounting options.
Engineered especially for high-density, high fidelity acquisition, FreeLynx opens the door to outstanding neural data quality and quantity from each untethered subject and is especially well-suited for neural recordings using models of 400 grams body weight and larger.
“Our lab has experimented with a number of wireless data acquisition systems for both rodent and primate electrophysiology. We are very pleased with the recording quality and overall performance of Neuralynx’s [FreeLynx] – which we find to be virtually indistinguishable from traditional wired systems. We would happily recommend this device for any researcher seeking a reliable and user friendly system for performing wireless electrophysiology recording.”

FreeLynx is capable of connecting and transmitting neural data up to 256 channels directly to a Cheetah acquisition computer. Multiple Cheetah / FreeLynx systems allow simultaneous time-synchronized telemetry recordings.
For Digital Lynx SX labs, FreeLynx brings additional advanced electrophysiology capabilities.
Switch FreeLynx to a high-performance neural data logger at any time during experiment by recording to a tiny on-board MicroSD card (~0.5 grams). Storage capacity allows continuous, high-density neural recording for 24+ hours depending on battery capacity.
At 30 x 35 x 30 millimeters, 11.5 grams, the FreeLynx is very powerful for its size.
